This is an exciting small group Eco-Adventure in the famous Flinders Ranges.

You will see the incredible rock formation of Wilpena pound and the Ranges themselves. This is a tour that includes an abundance of wildlife, wilderness, local aboriginal artworks and culture as well as multiple accommodation options from sleeping under the stars in a tent to luxury Eco-Villas.

The tour includes: Flinders Ranges National Park, Mambray Creek National Park, the historic outback town of Quorn, Warrens Gorge Conservation Park, the Willochra Plains, Ancient Aboriginal Art Sites, Rawnsley Park Station, Wilpena Pound, Elder Ranges, Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, Melrose (the oldest town in the Flinders Ranges) and the Clare Valley for wine tasting.

You'll search for the rare Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby, see an abundance of Kangaroos, Emus and Wedge Tailed Eagles. Visit ancient Aboriginal cave paintings, meet the locals and enjoy camp fires and camp cooking.

Itinerary:

DAY 1 FLINDERS RANGES

SOUTHERN & CENTRAL

8 am. Pick up from Adelaide accommodation

Head North along the eastern sides of the Gulf St Vincent & Spencer Gulf. Visit historical coastal towns and learn about our rich maritime history.

At approximately midday we reach the Flinders Ranges.Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch surrounded by stunning 600 million year old mountains and an abundance of wildlife at Mambray Creek National Park. If you enjoy bush walking, we will take you on a 1 hour guided stroll along beautiful tree lined creek beds with spectacular views over Spencer Gulf.

We will continue our journey and cross one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth (The Flinders Ranges)

Visit the picturesque township of Quorn with its old building's and a famous history of railways and original Australian films. Head out on the dirt tracks to Warrens Gorge and search for the elusive yellow footed rock wallaby. Travel through a rich landscape of old mountain ranges, deserted outback towns and spectacular Australian scenery.

At about 5.30 pm arrive at Rawnsley Park Station situated on the southern side of the famous Wilpena Pound. Settle into your award winning 4 star eco-villa. Kick back, relax and enjoy a glass of wine, on the house of course! We will escort you to the Woolshed Restaurant at the resort for an award winning meal (included) . You are welcome to spend the evening by yourselves and discuss your day of adventure in the Australian bush or be joined by your guide if you prefer.

DAY 2 SATURDAY

Your breakfast has been placed in your eco-villa for you to prepare and enjoy; orange juice, bacon and eggs, cereal and good coffee. It's a 9am start today. We explore spectacular Bunyeroo Gorge and visit the secluded areas of beauty where our famous Australian painter Sir Hanns Heisen would spend much of his time painting this magical land. We travel in our well-equipped and comfortable 4wd vehicle, through the rugged creek beds of Brachina Gorges. This area is teaming with wildlife and a geological history that is evident along the way.

Next it's time for lunch at the iconic Prairie Hotel. You will enjoy a selection of bush food which includes native bush preserves, kangaroo, emu and camel if you are game. There is a fine selection of chicken, ham and vegetarian alternatives as well.

Sit back and travel in style along Parachilna Gorge on our way to the old copper mining town of Blinman. We will go underground on a tour conducted by a local who will share their knowledge of this interesting part of our outback history. In the late afternoon you will be able to witness, photograph and enjoy a drive that will leave you with memories of a land teaming with wildlife and some of the most spectacular outback scenery Australia has to offer.

Enjoy your gourmet evening meal in a beautiful bush setting, served by your guide while you relax, watching the ever changing colours as the setting sun changes the moods of the mountains. We will return you to your eco-villa at approximately 8pm.

DAY 3 SUNDAY

Have a sleep in if you wish and prepare your breakfast from the deck of your luxurious Eco Villa. Optional Extra: take a 30 minute flight over Wilpena Pound and the surrounding area.

At 9.30am we depart Rawnsley Park Station. We head South for a 1 hour return walk to Yourambula Caves and see aboriginal art work dating back thousands of years. Learn of the Adjamarthna history and spirituality of the Flinders Ranges. (Optional extra. Be joined by a local aboriginal elder to explain more if you choose)

Head south again along the eastern side of the Flinders Ranges to Melrose the oldest town to be settled in this area. We'll enjoy a coffee at Bluey Bloodstones Blacksmith Shop.

Lunch at Alligator Gorge National Park.

1 hour bush walk if desired

Advertised itineraries may vary due to circumstances beyond our control. No refund will be offered if Heading Bush are unable to acheive all locations within the itinerary.
