Itinerary:

Day 1

Head South on the Explorer Highway, travelling east of the Pitjantjara aboriginal lands to Marla (meaning Red Kangaroo in the local language).

Then it's on to the largest opal mining field in the world, Coober Pedy, as we head in to town we'll pass the extensive mining operations that make Coober Pedy the opal capital of the world.

Coober Pedy is a place where people live underground to escape the heat of the desert.

Homes are mined out of the rock and provide an average temperature of 18oC.

You can experience this yourself as accommodation in an underground mine is included.

Day 2

After breakfast we head south again, through the desert country of northern South Australia, past the great expanses of salt lakes which make up this unique desert country.

You'll witness the change in flora and fauna as we head through the Flinders Ranges, the oldest mountain range on earth. We'll travel past it's famously beautiful western side and on to Adelaide, arriving approximately 6pm.
